Programs to Support Your Success
PLUS
PLUS uses peer learning to improve students' grades in a Quantitative Reasoning course. It consists of regularly scheduled, out-of-class group study sessions driven by students’ needs. Sessions are facilitated by trained individuals who have successfully passed the course in which they utilize collaborative activities to ensure peer-to-peer interaction in small groups.
Peer Leader Program
The Peer Leader Program connects selected incoming first-year students with students who successfully navigated their first year at Cal State LA. Our Peer Leaders connect first-year classmates to academic resources, foster campus engagement, and introduce new students to other aspects of university life.
Supportive Pathways in Summer
Students who participate in our summer Early Start courses will have the opportunity to earn 3 units of college credit by enrolling in either Early Start Composition (ESC) or Early Start Math (ESM) prior to starting in the fall! These in-person courses are designed to prepare students and connect them with peers!
Timely Support
We want to ensure you stay on track with your Quantitative Reasoning and English courses. As part of a student success initiative at Cal State LA, the Timely Support team contacts students identified as possibly needing additional help in these courses. Receiving an email, phone, and/or text message from Timely Support is a call to action; we encourage you to attend your appointment to succeed in these courses.
Early Assessment (EAP)
The Early Assessment Program (EAP) is used by the CSU in English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics to determine a student's Early Assessment Program status. In the spring of their high school junior year, students take the CAASPP English Language Arts/Literacy, and math exams, also referred to as SBAC.
